In memory of
Aleem Shaikh
We are taking part in Race for Life in memory of Aleem Shaikh (Daddy Shaikh) who died unexpectedly in February 2021 due to stomach cancer. He underwent a routine knee replacement in December 2020, but found his recovery a struggle, which resulted in him being admitted to hospital at the end of January. Over a few days it became clear that there was more going on than just issues with his knee operation and this is when we were given the devastating news that not only was it cancer, but Stage 4 and terminal. Once the diagnosis was given, Daddy Shaikh deteriorated rapidly, and his final wish was that he wanted to be at home with his family. We managed to bring him home, where he spent his last few hours with loved ones, and less than 24 hours later he passed away. Daddy Shaikh was a man who deeply loved and cared for his family and everything he did was with them in mind. He had an interesting taste in music, told some brilliant (but awful) dad jokes, made great cups of tea and was always there with his wise words and hugs. Daddy Shaikh I love you and miss you with all of our hearts and you will be forever in my thoughts!
