My Story
The South Wales Cancer Crusaders were formed in 2019 after many of our group had family members diagnosed with cancer. Since 2019, Cancer has continued to sadly affect us all and we have unfortunately lost some incredible people due to this disease. We are a very close group of friends/family and our aim is to raise as much as we can for Cancer Research. We come in all shapes and sizes however we all share the same interest which is sport, particularly rugby & football. Many of us still play for our local teams in Newport and want to use our background in sport to help raise money and awareness of cancer. For our challenge this year taking place on Friday 18th August 2023 - Saturday 19th August 2023. Gwilym O’Donovan, James Austin, Sean Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Joe Higgins, Dario Oliver, Tom James, Pat James, Joe Coughlin, Josh Cashman, Sam Byrne, Liam Byrne, Josh Davidson, Rhys Hendley, Elliot Shotton, Josh Broom, Gary James, Rhys Ambrose, Gerard McKnight, Luke Collins, Brian Feeney, Nick Bennett, Dan Ells, Jon Unsworth, Kristian Hawkes, Sam Parselle, Sean Austin, Alex O’Keefe, Gareth Edwards, Matt O’Brien, Adam Crocker and Geraint O'Donovan will be attempting to complete the Ten Y Fan Challenge which involves walking up Pen Y Fan 10 times within 24 hours.
