My Story
This year commemorates the 21st anniversary of my grandfather's death after having lost his battle against cancer. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to meet him as I was born a month after his untimely death. In the year following, my family suffered another tragic loss when my aunty lost her fight with breast cancer. To mark my 21st birthday, I will be running the Manchester half marathon in September in order to raise money in aid of cancer research in honour of their memories. Cancer is undeniably an unforgiving illness that affects so many people. I have watched people very close to me lose their parents, grandparents, siblings and friends to cancer. Cancer really is in-discriminatory and can affect anyone. It can be a very scary diagnosis and can turn people's worlds upside down. I want to raise as much money as I can to help beat cancer. The long term effects of Covid-19 are having a knock-on effect on the care of cancer patients, so it is essential to raise as much money as possible to help these people during their most difficult times. With the incidence of cancer increasing, more research is needed to produce more effective treatments. A relatively recent increase in survival rates for many types of cancers is due to the development of new treatments and technologies. Cancer Research UK continue this research to be able to develop more treatments that can continue improve the quality of life for people who have cancer. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m raising money right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
