Shine London 2019 - Full Marathon
Sat 21 Sep 2019 - Sat 21 Sep 2019
Abandoning all hope of ever RUNNING the London Marathon, we are supporting Cancer Research by entering the Shine Event which involves walking the Marathon course: overnight!
Karen, Anne, Dana and I, together with our friends Claire and Nina have entered this Cancer Research sponsored event. Although we regularly meet to exercise our dogs, we are abandoning the coastal and country footpaths of Cornwall to walk over 26 miles through the streets of London. Not only is the walk itself a huge challenge, we will be stretching ourselves further by travelling to London, participating in the event overnight in the dark, then travelling back to Cornwall again immediately afterwards: sleep deprived and exhausted! Anne, Claire and I all turned 60 this year and wanted to do something worthwhile to mark the occasion! We are hoping to raise money to help fight cancer, which has touched all of our lives. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me if you can. Thank you for reading.
