My Story

It's the final week!!! Hurrah!!! For others though it is the start of their battle, another day of their battle, or the end of their battle for good or ill. At the end of this week I hang up my 'neon pinks' (they've literally been destroyed by the event) and concentrate on my medical challenges. It maybe that in the years ahead I or you could be sat in an office somewhere being told 'I'm sorry...' by a consultant and my only hope is that by 'our' endeavours the sentence will end 'but we have a treatment'. That's what this is about... I overheard two young girls deep in conversation as they passed me on the path today. The first stated 'You know when someone in your family is dead...' to which the other interjected matter-of-factly 'That's my Auntie.'. The rest of the conversation was lost to me but whether by cancer or no it makes you think... Her Aunt must have been twenty years my junior at least. I guess my childhood memories of visiting mum in hospital on a weekend left a lasting scar upon me which faded from a vivid fear and foreboding in childhood to love and caring in adulthood. Thank you very much for your support everyone. It gives me hope that people will benefit from your kindness and has shown to me that you have both faith in me and respect for me. Lisa x
