My Story

1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s ground breaking work. Donate to my Giving Page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. I am sure everyone knows a friend or family member who has been diagnosed with some form of cancer, or maybe maybe diagnosed themselves. Fortunately, many are treated and cancer goes away but always leaves its mark and a fear of it returning. There are also many who sadly have lost their fight to this disease, some of which may be been preventable through improved understanding, recognising the signs early and availability of improved treatment. I personally was going through life without any concerns or thoughts about having any form of cancer and then purely by accident and the thoroughness of a nurse practitioner, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had zero signs there was a problem and consider myself extremely lucky as there is not a programme for routine testing. While I was lucky, so many people are not so lucky, not having signs of cancer secretly growing inside them, going through life happily innocent that the disease is slowly attacking them from the inside, completely invisible to the naked eye. Through your support and the work done by Cancer Research UK, hopefully they can find better ways or proactively diagnosing many, if not all cancers earlier, giving people a much greater chance of survival and hopefully curing many. A small donation when added to other small donations will add up to a sum which can make a massive difference to others. Times are tough for many of us, we may be struggling to pay all our bills. however, many of us will still go out and buy a few pints, but consider if everyone reduced their evening out by one pint and saved £5.00 which could be donated to Cancer Research UK, what a difference that could make to the research into helping the next person who will be diagnosed with cancer. The reality is that this would not only impact on one person, but could impact on a significant number of people. That small amount really can make a massive difference.
