My Story

Hi everyone, as you may know, over the last ten years or so, I’ve been a regular runner and have done many half marathons. I’ve always said that one day would do a full one if I was lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon. Unfortunately, the places are hard to get and I’ve not managed to get one over the last few years of applying. So after years of being rejected I’ve decided that this year I’m going to do the London Virtual Marathon! I will run 26.2 miles on the day of the London Marathon (02/10/22) and I will be doing it in aid of Cancer research UK. As many of you know in 2016 I lost my Mum who fought a long hard battle with bowel cancer and in 2020 I also lost my Dad due to stomach cancer. 2 years later my father in law passed away after living for many years with cancer. Thanks to Cancer research, our loved ones were able to live with us for longer, with the help of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It’s for these reasons that I’ve decided to put myself through the challenge’s of running a marathon. I hope that one day they’ll be a cure of this horrible disease that takes so many lives. Thankfully, it’s not been too hot through my weeks and months of training which has been a great help….. NOT. However, the thought of being able to give others the comfort and medication that my loved ones had and some still are receiving, has helped me when I’ve been out on the road, in the middle of nowhere, wondering why I’m doing this? Any sponsors no matter how big or small are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support. Up yours cancer x
