Like a lot of people, I’ve thought about running a marathon but have always found a reason not to; busy at work, working on the house and life in general getting in the way, all great excuses. So in September when I saw the email asking for people to enter a ballot in support of Cancer Research UK to run either the London or Paris Marathon I thought “this is the moment” what better reason could you need. I was lucky enough to get through the ballot and will be running the Paris Marathon on April 8th. In October I started training, running two nights in the week and then a longer run on a Sunday, week in week out, gradually increasing the distance. I’ve been lucky enough to have had some great support from family, friends and work colleges including Paul Newbrook who, as soon as he heard what I was doing, volunteered to help train me and Anyway all this training is for one major reason, to raise money for Cancer Research UK to help find a cure to a terrible disease that touches everyone in one shape or form.
