The Miss Great Britain Organisation have raised over £90,000 for Cancer Research UK since 2015, not only this, they have spread vital awareness on different cancer types and been advocates for screening. Together we are funding life saving research and helping women and men across the UK be even more cancer aware. CANCER RESEARCH UK Unfortunately, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Cancer Research UK fund scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. Their vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived, but over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Their ambition is to accelerate progress and see three- quarters of people surviving the disease by 2034. We are looking forward to another exciting partnership together with Saffron, Matt and all the finalists” STEPH HONEY’S STORY I lost my dear Dad to cancer in 2016 aged just 52. He was suffering with headaches, so he went to the doctors who sent him for a scan. Sadly, he had a brain tumour, and within eight months he had passed away. It was absolutely heartbreaking and we all felt so helpless. Whilst my Dad fought for his life I was found to have pre-cancerous cells in my womb. Thankfully, I survived, but my friend, Maxine who I met in hospital lost her life after a lengthy battle with cancer. These events were the catalyst for my involvement in beauty pageants which gave me the ideal platform to raise money for research and highlight the need for earlier smear tests. It is my overriding wish that the awesome work of Cancer Research UK will one day help rid us once and for all of the scourge of cancer which has blighted so many of our lives.
