Stella's Race for Life
Derby 10k 2019
Sun 30 Jun 2019 - Sun 30 Jun 2019
In memory of
Christine Wild
I first ran the 5k Race for Life 9 years ago in memory of my Mum, my Dad and my brother-in-law who all very sadly died of different types of cancer at relatively young ages. Then 2 years ago I decided to run the 10k Race for Life in memory of my eldest brother, Jim, who I also lost to cancer in November 2016. I struggled and suffered with extremely sore knees after this event and said that was it - no more running! However, one of my closest friends, who underwent brilliantly successful treatment for breast cancer ten years ago, has just discovered a very tiny lump, which after a biopsy has shown that it is malignant. So I am running this 10k for her as it is so important to continue raising funds in order that treatment for this horrendous disease progresses to hopefully be able to eventually eradicate it totally. I know that great advances have been made even in the last ten years and she is going to be fine - I just want to help make sure that progress in research and treatment continues to be made as no-one is immune from this evil thing. I am also running this remembering my very dear friend from my spin class, Chris, who we sadly lost very suddenly last September. This is for you Chris. Any donations however small are so very much appreciated.
