In memory of
DAD MY HERO
I have joined my sister in Race for Life 23rd July St Albans in honour of our Dad who passed away last June. He worked hard all his like after his father passed away when he was just 11, was happily married with mum for 51 years & built a strong solid family with 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Dad went through a quadruple heart bypass about 20 years ago, amazed doctors to survive an aortic anurism 8 years ago with less than a million to one chance to live, was bought back to life when his heart stopped (by now he earnt the title of the cat with 9 lives) yet carried on living walking & swimming an hour a day nearly everyday till he became mums carer 4 years ago. When he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer last February we knew he couldnt be cured as we sadly found it late. After everything he had been through & survived this was going to be his biggest fight for life and fight he did but it was very agressive and just 4 months from diagnosis dad passed away on 12 June 2016 with his wife & children around him. Despite the prognosis when dad found out he had cancer he still found it in himself to joke & said if god is going to make me suffer now me & him will be having words when I get there, i could died very quickly in the past now hes going make me suffer too! But even in his last months his outlook was I am lucky to have had a happy life my wife, kids grandchildren & even lived to see great grandchild which most dont get to see. I am happy and satisfied so if this is my time I am thankful for the 7 year bonus god gave me with my family after my anurism. Through all the pain & suffering during 4 months he was more upset for younger patients in his ward & still smiled and joked around to lighten the mood with staff and patients. He never once complained and right till the end whenever we asked how he was he always said Im OK. An amazing man who left behind a legacy of love & respect. DAD YOU ARE OUR HERO WE LOVE & MISS U X
