My Story

I am doing the 10k race for life this year with my 3 daughters-Emma 21,Sophie 14 and Lucy 9 (Lucy's 1st time) This charity is very close to our hearts as my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was just 34 years old, shortly after her diagnosis my father-in-law was told he had throat cancer and if that was not enough,a little while later my mother-in-law was also told she too had cancer. Watching 3 members of our family battle this awful disease within a short time was heart breaking and for the children seeing their auntie and grandparents so ill was extremely upsetting for them too. i don't know how they have done it but all 3 battled grueling operations, rounds of chemo and radiotherapy. They are true heroes in my eyes. My sister also has 3 children who were very young when she was 1st diagnosed and i know it was so damn hard for them all but somehow she found that inner strength to kick its butt, yes it was hard for her,she is now 42 and has come so far in the last 8 years, has endured many health problems along the way but always comes out the other end and i could not be more proud of her and how far she has come. Having both your parents fighting cancer is just devastating and my husband found it hard but not as hard as they did,i can not believe life was so cruel to hit them both with the dreaded C word but just like like my sister they too found that inner strength and fought so hard and seeing them now i could not be more proud of them. More recently my uncle was diagnosed with cancer,i am so very proud of him,he really has been through so much along his treatment path and it has not been easy for him (or any of them) but that inner strength must run in the family as he too found the strength from somewhere to fight this cruel disease. All 4 of our family members are still fighting, they will continue needing hospital visits/treatments etc but we are hoping they are now over the worse. They are all such a big inspiration to myself and my girls and we love them all loads. Please donate what you can, nothing is too small and all proceeds go directly to cancer research, without cancer research our 4 family members may have had a different outlook and this is why we are doing this race so please help us to help this charity continue doing what they do so well.I am also proud to be doing this race with my girls, they understand what their family has gone through and they want to help as much as they can so please dig deep and donate what you can. Thank you xxx Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
