Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Shirley Drury is the beloved Nan of my best friend aly who I've had the pleasure of knowing and loving since the start of our friendship 5 years ago. The most inspirational woman I have ever met who has refused to be defeated by this debilitating disease despite being diagnosed over 12 months ago. A lady who wears a smile on her face despite having the weight of the world on her shoulders and puts others feelings before her own. Someone who has every right to feel sorry for herself but will still sit and listen to the trivial problems of others and offer a helping hand anyway she can!
