My Story
Firstly I would like to thank everyone who as donated in my previous years. This year I will be doing the Pretty Mud Run instead of the Race for Life. I fancied a little challenge. Boy did I pick one! 5k Muddy obstacle course! Someone have oxygen at the finish line for me! For those who are new or unaware of why I do race for life here is my story: In late 2014 my mum Karen Baker started to fill ill, she struggled to keep food down and began losing a lot of weight. Multiple doctors told her she was fine and that her not eating was more of an eating disorder. Hospitals told her it was just a stomach ulcer. Well in February of 2015 mum was finally diagnosed with duodenal cancer. It was to late by then. The cancer had moved to other organs and was terminal. We were told she would have 6 months (on average) to live with chemo to slow it down. Unfortunately mum was to sick at this point to accept the chemo. Her health deteriorated very quickly so she was admitted to Haven Hospice who where wonderful. Though out all of this I was trying to speed the process up for my wedding as it was my deepest wish that my mum be there. Things didn't go to plan. Mum passed away the day before my wedding. Heartbroken. She knew she wouldn't be able to make it there in body, But I truly believe she was there by my side giving me the strength to get though the day. My mum is my inspiration, she was such a kind and loving person. She is missed dearly every second of everyday. Please donate what you can, my goal this year is to raise awareness of early detection as if mum had been diagnosed earlier she may have still been here today. Thank you <3 Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose!
