2018 Simplyhealth Great North Run
Sun 9 Sep 2018
In memory of
Carol Greener
In January 2018 my nanna was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She was able to have an operation to beat it and we were all relieved. Only we found out later that she also had cancer in her throat and from there it travelled to her other organs. From her being diagnosed with throat cancer, we didn’t know we only had six weeks left with her. I signed up to the great north run to make myself feel less helpless in her battle against cancer. I never thought I would be running it in memory of her. On 21st March 2018 she passed away, surrounded by all her family. I can’t come to explain how much we will miss her. I lost a grandfather to cancer when I was 7 years old and my mother battled breast cancer and beat it when I was a teenager. I know I’m not the only one to have experienced losing a loved one or seeing a loved one hurt by this disease. I also know it won’t be the last time for me or anyone else. But I want to raise money for Cancer Resarch UK because I still believe there is more we can do to learn more about this disease and prevent it from destroying many more people’s lives. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m raising money right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! Donate to my page today and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
