My Story
Hello pals and gals! As many of you know 2016 was an incredibly challenging year for myself and my family after I was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma. Now, 6 months on from treatment, in remission and significantly more hairy, I have decided to take on a new challenge and complete the Race for life 10k! I was lucky enough to be treated on the fabulous Teenage Cancer Trust ward at St James' Hospital Leeds, which provides a safe and comfortable environment for young people as they face their treatment process. The staff and facilities there gave myself and my family support and relief when we needed it most. Although 1 in 2 people will experience cancer at some point in their life, we are constantly making advances in medicine and steps towards curative treatments. However, this is heavily dependent on your generosity and donations, which are crucial in research and progress. Please please PLEASE dig deep and give what you can. I can honestly say from a first hand perspective, EVERY PENNY COUNTS! I will be taking part as a representative of the young cancer community, in honour of the unbelievable nurses, doctors and staff of Ward 94, who dedicate their lives to the physical and mental wellbeing of young people with a diagnosis. Without them, I would not be alive today and I am forever thankful for them. I will also be running for the brilliant friends I met in my time on the ward, and in memory of those who are no longer with us. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
