My Story
We are raising money in honour of our beautiful, spectacular, exceptional friend, Catherine. Here is her story...Unfortunately on Thursday 18th May, at the age of 28, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer), we now know that this has spread to my lymph nodes and I also have another area which has been confirmed as cancerous. We also know that it is Grade 3 - this means it is the fastest growing.Since then it's been a bit of a whirlwind of appointments. I had to go back on Tuesday to get the markers put in to the tumour and next week I will have a CT scan to see if it has spread further than my breast. I will also meet with my Oncologist on Tuesday.I will be having Chemo for 4/5 months, then surgery, then most likely radiotherapy and then reconstruction. I am planning to shave my hair off next Wednesday and will be donating it to little princess trust. We have a long road ahead of us but I wanted to share as I don't meet any brackets for cancer so please please please check your boobs! I thought I had a blocked duct so didn't get it checked.....until it grew! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check your boobs, and go straight away if you find anything unusual!' Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
