My Story
On Friday 27 May 2022, twenty four golfers representing six businesses from across the East Midlands will take part in the second “The Three Bunkers Challenge” in aid of the charity Big C Little C which supports both Cancer Research and NSPCC. Based on the format of the “Three Peaks Challenge” each team will play nine holes on three courses in Nottingham, Derby and Leicestershire in one day. The courses are Morley Hayes, Charnwood Forest and The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club. The idea was conceived by Andrew Allsop, owner of Morley Hayes Golf Club and Bev Cook, who lives in Radcliffe on Trent, who is Managing Director of Simple Marketing Consultancy. The 2021 event raised an incredible £13,000 and so Bev committed to organise the event until £100,000 had been raised. The businesses taking part in 2022 are: Mazars (Bob Johnson), Anthony James Insurance Brokers (Steve Boorman), Simple Marketing Consultancy (Elliot & Bev Cook), Breeze Corporate Finance (Paul Bevan) and Fiscal Engineers (Colin Shaw) and MKM Building Supplies (Kate Tinsley). Each team has pledged to raise at least £2,000. Big C Little C was set up in 2019 by Andrew Springhall from Breedon Electrical Services and Colin Shaw, former Chairman of PKF Cooper Parry in order to encourage businesses in the East Midlands to organise events to raise money to support The Jenny Farr NSPCC Diamond Appeal and Cancer Research. Due to changes in how fundraising pages can be set up, the 2022 event will use a page set up by Cancer Research UK. So whilst everything raised will be donated directly to Cancer Research, Colin & Andrew will be ensuring that the NSPCC receives 50% of what is raised from this event via donations made directly to Big C Little C.
