My Story
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August. I’ve had successful surgery and I’m going to have radiotherapy in January. I’ve had great care and I’m so struck by how much is known about breast cancer (compared to 25 years ago when my Mum was diagnosed), and how much that increases the chance of better outcomes. I would like to use this time between surgery and treatment to do something positive, and raising money for research which will lead to good outcomes for more people, seems like a good thing to do. This will be a challenge for me as I’m just re-establishing exercise and stamina after surgery and although I like swimming outdoors, I’ve not swum through a winter for a few years! I’m hoping to do a mix of lido swims, some cold dips in my ‘tub’ in the garden, and a few sea swims if I get the chance. Any donation will spur me on to get into the water ! Thank you so much 😊
