My Story
Mary (pictured Centre) is one of the best friends you could ever wish to have. We met when I was 16 years old. She has always put others before herself and has a genuine kindness that makes her incredibly special. If you don't know Mary, you're missing out. She also has the ability to look into the face of cancer and tell it to bog off - she has such a positive attitude. Mary was diagnosed in 2002 with breast cancer was treated with radiotherapy. It returned in 2012. Mary had chemo in the winter of 2012/2013 and that put the cancer back under control. Sadly the cancer woke up again, this time with its boots on. So now it is secondary breast cancer that had moved initially into the bones and now into the liver. The liver is a vital organ and this is causing all of her current symptoms. That fighting spirit is still there. Cancer shouldn't exist but it does, and it's incredibly unfair. I am so inspired and proud of Mary as all her beautiful family and friends are. My kids absolutely love her to bits! I'm challenging myself to the 10k Race for Life to raise money towards Cancer Research. I want Mary to know she's blooming awesome and by raising awareness now, we are helping future generations so a cure can be found. Please donate as little or as much as you can afford and leave a message of love and support to one of the best friends we could ever wish to have. Thank you so much. Update: I am so desperately sad to update this page with the news that Mary lost her long and courageous battle on 5th August. I am now accelerating my training to achieve this for Mary. She knew I was doing this and approved the information within this page. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK. Thank you x
