My Story
In October 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery and radiotherapy. Having a cancer diagnosis is such a shock but I was lucky in having love and support from my family and friends. One of my friends, Elaine helped me so much at that time as she’d already had breast cancer and was a constant support as she knew exactly how I was feeling! Unfortunately we were shocked a few months ago when she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer and she is still going through treatment and the tables have turned with me supporting her this time. However we both know that our ‘journeys’ would have been very different without constant research. I was spared gruelling chemotherapy thanks to a new test which showed that I wouldn’t benefit from chemo. Elaine is living with cancer and although having regular treatment, it is no longer generic, but tailored to her needs and she is doing well! We both appreciate how much treatment has changed due to ongoing research and we wanted to do something to support Cancer Research. Recently we made a couple of the scarves that you can see in our photos and thought it may be a way to raise funds. We will make them for a donation to the charity. We have most colours of wool (or you may choose a lucky dip). Alternatively if scarves aren’t your thing, or you live too far away to collect them, we’d be delighted if you’d consider just making a donation to support us. Please send a pm to either Elaine or myself to order your scarf, stating your preferred colour and follow the link to donate . Our local knitting and crochet club members have offered to help if we’re inundated ... and we hope we will be!! 😘 Every little helps. Thank you so much 😊 Please scroll to see photos ⬇️
