Shed Rides Across Britain

My Story

This September, along with 8 other BDP comrades, I have committed to cycle the Deloitte Ride Across Britain; the ride from Land's End to John O'Groats bike is a grueling journey, from the farthest tip of Cornwall to the northernmost tip of the UK. We are looking forward to (err with a tiny bit of trepidation) nine days, 980 miles and 55,000 feet of climbing - the equivalent to riding up Mt Everest from Sea Level twice! Staying in tented camps every night, this is an arduous challenge in every sense of the word, with over 110 miles to be ridden every day between 4th and 12th September. I lost both my maternal grandparents to Cancer as a child and have seen the devastating symptoms as well as distressing side effects of treatment. Cancer Research carries out pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, helping save millions of lives and minimise patient suffering during treatment Over the last 40 years, cancer survival in the UK has doubled and 2 in 4 people survive their disease for 10 years or more, which is why I’m raising money right now for Cancer Research UK to enable research to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. I thought I would share some of the dedication and resilience that Cancer sufferers and their families show show every day during their battle with the disease by participating in a this epic physical challenge that I really hope you will get behind and support me and the BDP RAB21 Team I have personally paid for the ride entry so all money I am able to raise will fund important care and research to alleviate the suffering from cancer, an added bonus is that your any donations will keep me motivated when doing the training miles in preparation for the challenge.
