I’M RAISING MONEY FOR STAND UP TO CANCER

Please join me in Standing Up To Cancer!

Cancer has had a huge impact on my life. I lost my Nan to Breast Cancer when I was just six, and my Grandad passed away due to Myeloma when I was just 14. Unfortunately more recently, my Father-in-Law has been living with Oesophageal Cancer, and Cancer has also impacted a number of friends and extended family both over a number of years and even more recently.

I'm incredibly proud of my Wife who has been an absolute rock to her Parents through what has been an extremely difficult 18+ months, while also bringing up our two boys.

Seeing others suffering with this terrible disease is truly awful and makes me feel completely helpless. However while I cannot help directly, I hope that through my fundraising activities I can help those who can and together - Stand Up To Cancer!

Over the course of 2020 I will be training hard, and taking part in my first ever marathon - the London Marathon on Sunday 26th of April . However this is just the warm up, because on Sunday 6th of September I will be competing in my first ever full distance Ironman, Ironman Wales. This is a triathlon event, consisting of a 1.2 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike course, and marathon 26.2 mile run course - and being in Wales, naturally the course includes a lot of hills!

Thank you for visiting my page. If you can leave a donation I'd be extremely grateful. No amount of money is too small, all amounts are very gratefully received. Thank you.

I am raising money for Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign. The money raised will help take breakthroughs in the lab and transforms them into treatments and cures for cancer patients who need them right now. Dig deep and donate to help beat cancer at its own game.

Since my last update Ironman Wales has also been cancelled due to Covid19, meaning all my events for the year have been cancelled. So yesterday, with fellow Warley Wasps, we drove over to Fairbourne, did a sea swim, rode the 114 miles (over 8,500 feet elevation) back home, then ran to the top of Kinver edge. We had a great day, and it was an amazing experience

First update for a while, I was meant to run in the 40th London Marathon today but as I'm sure everyone is aware, the event could not take place. Instead I've tonight ridden 26.2 miles on my turbo trainer (I've put myself on running rest before the training starts all over again, as well as having a troublesome left achilles), supporting the 2.6 challenge, I really didn't want to having not eaten well and just thinking about the Marathon all day, but I did it! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, I really appreciate the support and I hope the events go ahead soon!

Cause

Stand Up to Cancer: LIFE-SAVING RESEARCH

100% of the money you raise goes towards speeding up life-saving research. Every day, scientists and researchers work tirelessly to beat cancer. But lab researchers will not get us there alone. Every penny raised helps speed up breakthroughs in the lab, transforming them into new tests and treatments for patients who need them. The research you fund will help us see 3 in 4 people in the UK survive their cancer by 2034.
