My Story
Please join me in Standing Up To Cancer! Cancer has had a huge impact on my life. I lost my Nan to Breast Cancer when I was just 6, and my Grandad to Myeloma when I was just 14. More recently, my Father-in-Law was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer and sadly lost his battle in January 2020. Cancer has also impacted on the lives of friends and extended family both over a number of years and even more recently. I've been incredibly proud of my Wife who was an absolute rock to her Parents, and continues to be for her Mom, through what has been an extremely difficult time, while also bringing up our two boys. Seeing others suffering with this terrible disease is truly awful, and while I cannot help directly, I hope that through my fundraising activities I can help those who can, and together - Stand Up To Cancer! Over the course of 2020 (and now 2021/22/23 due to Covid-19) I will be training hard, and taking part in my first ever marathon - the London Marathon on Sunday 26th of April 2020 (now rearranged for Sunday 23rd April 2023). However this was originally planned to just be the warm up, because on Sunday 6th of September 2020 (now rearranged for Sunday 11th of September 2022) I will be competing in my first ever full distance Ironman, Ironman Wales. This is a triathlon event, consisting of a 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike course, and marathon 26.2 mile run course - and being in Wales, naturally the course includes a lot of hills! Thank you for visiting my page. If you can leave a donation I'd be extremely grateful. No amount of money is too small, all amounts are very gratefully received. Thank you. I am raising money for Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign. The money raised will help take breakthroughs in the lab and transforms them into treatments and cures for cancer patients who need them right now. Dig deep and donate to help beat cancer at its own game.
