My Story

I was diagnosed with cervical cancer back in October last year, and my whole world just came crashing down. So after lots of test ( CT, MRI, PET scans etc ) I found out how bad it was. I had a 4cm tumour behind my cervix. I needed 6 weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy with 3 doses of Brachytherapy. What I didn't know was that there is different cell types. The one I had was Adenocarcinoma which is less common than squamous cell cancer. About 2 out of 10 (20%) cervical cancers are adenocarcinomas. This type of cancer can be more difficult to find through cervical screening because it develops inside the cervical canal. It’s important to be aware of any symptoms, so you can get them checked out. The only reason I found out was because I had a really heavy bleed. So I just wanted to make more woman aware of this so they can get checked out. So I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
