Sharon's Race for Life

I lost my Gran to cancer when I was 19 years old and mother 2 1/2 years ago, it was the most heartbreaking and painful time of my life. Cancer treatments have advanced so much between the time of my Grans death and my Mums death with so many different types of chemotherapy available now. When my Mum was diagnosed the cancer had already spread to several organs in her body, years ago she would have been lucky to live a few months but despite this doctors managed to treat her and keep her relitavely stable allowing her to live for 4 years after diagnosis. My Mum was only 55 when she was diagnosed with lymphatic breast cancer and was a fit and healthy, slim lady with a passion for life. My Mum certantly was not ready to die at the age of 59, she was scared of dying and was still very young in her ways. Unfortunately despite her strength and fight the cancer had taken hold of her and she couldn’t fight it anymore. So here am I, pretty unfit with my own health problems and I have NEVER run 5K but I want to do it for my Mum, my Nan and all those other sufferers out there. Together we will beat cancer!
