Shine London 2019 - Full Marathon

Sat 21 Sep 2019 - Sat 21 Sep 2019

My Story

Following the Pretty Muddy 5km in July I am now preparing for a far more difficult challenge. On 21st September 2019, along with my usual partner in crime Julie Creedon, I will be taking part in the Shine night time marathon walk to help raise more funds to enable Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer. In the last 40 years they’ve helped double survival rates and fortunately the friend who I started my fundraising journey for has had her treatment and is now in remission but we can’t stop there so I make no apologies for shaking my virtual fundraising tin again. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.

CAUSE

Breast cancer

With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
