In memory of
Savvakis Georgallis
It is with very heavy hearts and the deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Savvakis, on Saturday 8th April 2023 at the age of 92. He leaves behind his beloved wife Margarita, his daughters Liza and Andrea, his grandchildren, Natalie, Josephine and Christopher and his great-grandchildren, Christiana and Michael, all of whom he adored. Savvakis was born in Marathovounos in 1930. He studied Law in Nicosia, where he became a successful Barrister. He was later Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London and practised law across both countries. Savvakis played a vital role in Cypriot society. He was heavily involved in the country’s political landscape and contributed to many articles across the Cyprus media. In 1955, he founded the Haravgi Newspaper, one of Cyprus’s largest newspapers, and was also its editor. In addition, Savvakis was the Chairman and a member of the Committee for Omonia Football Club of Nicosia, Cyprus and went on to co-found Omonia Football Club, London. His passing will forever leave a void in our hearts. We love him more than words can express and he will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cancer Research UK via this page.
