I'm running the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK in memory of my Mum.
In memory of
Desmonde Talbot
11th Jan 1950 - 28th Nov 2018
My Mum, Desmonde Talbot, lost her battle with cancer in November 2018, at the age of 68. Mum was diagnosed with High Grade Cancer in March 2017 and Mum was determined that cancer was not going to beat her, so she continued with her love of running. Mum ran the Great North Run in September 2017 and then ran the Birmingham marathon in October 2017, 10 days following chemotherapy. Unfortunately, in March 2018, Mum went for her post treatment check up and was advised that the chemotherapy and radiotherapy had not been successful. But this still did not stop her in her tracks and she went on to run the London Marathon in April 2018. Due to Mum's inspiration and determination, I entered the ballot for the London Marathon and in October 2018, I received confirmation that I had been successful and had a place! Mum has given me such determination to achieve this. If Mum can run with cancer, I have no excuse! Mum raised over £1,500 last year when she ran the London Marathon and I would love to achieve the same. So come on everyone, please dig deep for such a worthwhile cause and lets make Mum proud.
