My Story
Cancer is scary. It's scary to find out someone you love has it, or they might have it, or that they might one day disappear because of it. I am lucky in the sense that I have lost very few people to Cancer, my Great Grandad Bill and my Far Nan are the two people who died fighting it. But I have watched people I love have Cancer and win their war thanks to advance in research. My Nan for example had Cancer a few years ago and it was scary. Scary to think that someone you love so much could be gone because of it; thankfully she lived and continues to win her battle everyday. My Mum recently was tested for Cancer, and I have never been so scared in my life to think I could lose her, but thankfully it was a scare - a scare that makes you rethink your life choices so that you do not have to live through that fear anymore. There are so many stories that begin with Cancer, but thanks to research they don't have to end with Cancer: My boyfriend's Mum had skin Cancer removed from her nose, my Mum's best friend had it removed from her throat, a lady I worked with survived Cervical Cancer and friend's of mine are watching those they love work at fighting Cancer. Running a race for life is fighting the fear of Cancer, it's showing that Cancer doesn't have to win because no matter what there will be victories, and we're not afraid to get are hands dirty in the process! Please if you can only spare £1 it will make all the difference towards helping in the fight for Cancer, thank you for all your support.
