My Story

My Dad was diagnosed with stage 3C melanoma skin cancer around December 2018. He underwent surgery in January 2019 that removed the cancer. He went onto medication for a year to help prevent this the cancer returning, which finished at the end of March 2020. However in August 2020 we got the devastating news that the cancer had returned, again, and this time it was on a bigger scale, he had three tumours in his head. In September 2020 he underwent radiotherapy destroy the tumours and then immunotherapy to prevent them returning in any form. The amount of medication he had to be on due to side effects of his treatment weren't pleasant but he is now on fewer/none, depending on how he is feeling. His latest scan in February 2021 has revealed that that the smallest of the three tumours is no longer visible and the other two have shrunk by half. This is very positive news and we are hoping that the immunotherapy is still working against cancer in his body.
