Sarah's Race for Life
Pretty Muddy Edinburgh 5k 2017
Sat 16 Sep 2017
My lovely friend Eva who is battling cancer right now. Every step of this run is for her.
I moved to Bo'ness a few years ago and met the loveliest girls you can imagine, who I can now call my Bo'ness besties. Amongst them was Eva, who I have to admit I was a little envious of. You know, tall and slim with supermodel looks and a great personality too (I'm still trying to work out what her flaw is!) Anyway, not long after we made friends she cancelled a girl's night out as she was feeling unwell......and that was the start of her cancer journey. Eva has met every challenge head on, with a sunny positive attitude. She's exercised throughout her chemotherapy, and underwent major surgery four weeks ago, and is up and about (looking radiant) already. I decided that if Eva could do this, then surely I could run 5k with a few muddy obstacles thrown in!! But six months ago when I decided to do this, I was totally unfit - not helped by the fact that I'd broken my back a couple of years earlier. However, anyone that really knows me would tell you that if I put my mind to something, I can be pretty determined. So, I've been training ever since (shedding over a stone in weight in the process) and I am ready to do this. It will be slow, but I'll do it......I'll do it for Eva. Every single step! Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
