In memory of
My mum and so many others x
Please read further so I can explain my reason for wanting to take part in this Race for Life x Thank you 💗 “Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 10k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work”. Additionally I don’t want to make you yawn, but here’s my story… This time 20 years ago I was at home recovering from an operation. The surgeon told me he didn’t want me to have to go through it, but if he didn’t operate I may not be here in the following year and my boys needed their mum. The reason?….Cancer. If it hadn’t been for an amazingly persistent Doctor, my surgeon and the NHS who knows what may of happened? So! Most of us know someone who has battled cancer, and many sadly lost their fight, that includes my mum at the age of 61. I count myself so so lucky to have seen my children grow up, and have the life I have today. I try to never forget what may have been…. or not….. All these years Cancer Research scientists have continued to try and find a cure and improve treatment for over 200 types of Cancer. Fast forward to Sept 2020! I decided with the encouragement on my niece Hayley, to join a running support group called Beginners 2 Runners. This was a bit like Couch 2 5k, but within a group with advice and support. I couldn’t run for toffee! ..but as of today I have managed to keep doing on average a 5k run three times a week. I really want to push myself to raise money for this special cause that’s so close to my heart, so instead of doing a 5k run that I just about cope with I am aiming to do the 10k Race for Life in Herne Bay on Sunday 25th September. I would be extremely humbled if any of you would consider sponsoring me. If I could raise £40 it could pay for a patients cancer biopsy where a tiny amount of tumour is removed to be studied in a lab~ imagine how that procedure could change people’s lives.~ Let’s help beat cancer~ Thank you for reading this and still being awake! It means a lot x 💗
