Linda McCay
I’ve been running Race for Life since 2013. In 2017, I was proud to be invited to speak on stage in front of the crowd at Markeaton Park in Derby. I told the story of my Mum, who battled breast cancer when I was a teenager. She passed away when I was 19. I run in her memory. This year, my run takes on extra meaning. Firstly, my eight-year-old daughter Jaishree will be running with me. Secondly, my father was diagnosed with brain cancer in March. The treatment and care he is receiving through the NHS is second to none. But more needs to be done to research treatments and cures. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.

Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
