My Story
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. I’m Sarah, and I am raising money to support research into bowel cancer following what I can only describe as the most harrowing start to 2026 I could imagine. In January my dad, Dylan, was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer, and on 4th February (world cancer day) we were told this was untreatable and terminal and that he had just a few weeks left to live. Heartbroken, and completely shocked, I suddenly found myself faced head on with the reality of caring for someone who was dying from this awful disease alongside my brother and our amazing family. What I learned in this time was that life is fragile and so precious. My dad was only just 70, and we all thought he would be here for so much longer than he was, but cancer had other ideas. On the 7th March 2026, my dad died at home surrounded by love. He would be laughing at the thought of me doing any sort of running, because it’s not my favourite thing to do! But, like him, I am determined and if it raises money to stop someone else having to experience what has just happened to us, then it’s worth every step! Thank you for being here to support me. X
