Sarah's Royal Parks Half Marathon
2018 Royal Parks Half Marathon

I’m raising as much as I can to help beat brain tumours & cancer
In memory of
Paul Dickinson
In mid-October I'll be doing the Royal Parks half marathon in London in memory of my uncle, Paul. Paul sadly passed away in June at just 58 from a very aggressive malignant brain tumour which was only discovered 6 months before. Unfortunately no treatment, including surgery, could slow down the tumour's effects. Due to the seriousness, it also made Paul ineligible for a pioneering trial for incurable brain tumours Cancer Research happened to have just launched with Leeds University which could have extended his life. Paul was being treated at Leeds Hospital. Yes he was family, but Paul was genuinely one of the most thoughtful and nicest people I've met. Paul was a proper runner and years ago did the New York marathon which for some reason meant an appearance on Blue Peter...I won't achieve either feat although many of you will know I've done 2 half marathons before and vowed never to do another but things change. The good news is I've (hopefully) learnt from my mistakes such as setting off too fast. The bad news is I'm 5 years older. Thanks to my contacts at Cancer Research for getting my a place in what is a very over-subscribed half marathon. More importantly, thanks for all and any donations.
