I am taking part in the Cambridge 10k Shine Night Walk in order to raise vital funds to help put an end to cancer, and to support my fellow team mates. My family has been impacted by cancer, as well as family members of close friends. Sadly 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime, which is a shocking statistic. With the recent news that melanoma skin cancer incidence rates have soared by 45% in the last decade, it is now the fifth most common cancer in the UK. Worryingly melanoma skin cancer incidence rates amongst people aged 25-49 have increased by 70%, and is the second most common cancer of this age group. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound oyou donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
