Unfortunately, cancer now affects 1 in 2 people in the UK but thanks to the work of Cancer Research UK, over the last 40 years cancer survival rates have doubled. Raising money for Cancer Research UK is a cause close to my heart after losing my grandmothers to the disease, and sadly this year cancer has impacted our family again. Inspired by the positive attitude of my aunt, I'm trying to focus my attention on doing something positive by trying to raise some money for Cancer Research. As some of you know, I've got into my fitness over the last 18 months and developed some sort of strange fondness for taking part in Tough Mudder events. In September I will be climbing, jumping and crawling my way through 25 muddy obstacles (and braving the ice and electricity!) and "running" 8 miles in Crawley with a small team of amazing women. If you could spare any pennies or even £5, it would really be appreciated.

Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further.
