I have seen firsthand, as have so many others, the devastation that cancer can cause to not only the people suffering with cancer, but to the families of those people that are too often left to pick up the pieces after loved ones have passed away. I remember hearing the news that my Grandad had been diagnosed with throat cancer. I was devastated. However, he has since made a full recovery thanks to the care he received and ongoing work and progress made by Cancer Reseach. My ex-husband at the age of 23 was diagnosed with testicular cancer which then went into his stomach. I felt pretty helpless and had to watch as he lost his hair, eyelashes, eyebrows following chemotherapy but again, thanks to some amazing care, he pulled through and is now fit and healthy. My partner lost his dad Walter to the disease and my sister lost her Mother-In-Law to cancer also. Cancer touches so many lives and I will be waddling my way round the course in an effort to raise much needed funds so that this horrible disease can be iradicated forever xxx
