My Story
Like many people, my life has been touched by cancer—but in October 2024, it became part of my everyday reality. Shortly after finding out I was pregnant with my first child, my mum was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, an aggressive disease that is often detected too late. She faced everything with incredible strength—feeding tubes, chemotherapy, and ultimately an esophagectomy. After her surgery, we were fortunate to have four precious months where she regained her strength, fell completely in love with my daughter, and even returned to long-distance walking. In September 2025, she became unwell again. The cancer had returned, spreading rapidly to her bowel, muscles, and stomach. We lost her in November 2025. In that moment, I lost not only my mum, but my best friend—a truly strong and inspiring woman. While I’m not a scientist or a doctor, I work in life sciences and feel incredibly passionate about the advancements being made in cancer research. It’s this belief, and my mum’s memory, that drives me to act. To honour her and support life-saving research, myself and two others will be taking on “The Big Hike” to raise funds for cancer research. This is a half marathon (21km) walk around the British countryside I would be incredibly grateful if you would consider sponsoring me. Your support would not only help fund vital research but also contribute to a cause that impacts so many families.

CAUSE
