For those who lost the fight, and those continuing the battle...
This time last year, I was seeking donations and preparing for the Race for Life. My daughter and I were running for my father. I knew that no amount of money raised would be able to help him, but knew that running in his name could raise money for others fighting this evil disease. Little did I know, how close to home that help would be needed. My dad was over 2 years into his battle when we signed up, and we had recently been told that there was nothing more that could be done. Mentally, he fought on, continuing to see the cancer as a mere inconvenience, but on the 30th October he lost his fight and our hearts were broken. 3 days later, I got a phone call that I never expected, and the broken pieces of my heart broke further. One of my oldest and best friends, had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, at 29. Danielle is one of my best friends, the smallest and by far the fiercest of the group, and nothing has shown her fierceness quite as much as her fight over the past 5 months. She has tackled her treatment head on, whilst juggling motherhood to beautiful baby Joey, and even raising over £2,500 for the princess trust by shaving her head. She is my absolute hero, and her courage, strength and determination has resulted in some amazing responses from her treatments. This year I race not only for my dad’s memory, but for my beautiful friend’s future ❤️❤️❤️❤️
