My Story

My Story: After more than 40 years working in legal practices in Ilminster, I decided that supporting Cancer Research UK would be a meaningful way to thank the many clients, colleagues, and friends who have supported me throughout my career. When I first came to Ilminster in the 1980s, both the town and the legal profession looked very different. Over the years I have had the privilege of working with generations of local families and businesses, and throughout that time one thing has remained constant — the strong sense of community spirit that makes Ilminster such a special place. Beyond my professional role, I have also greatly valued opportunities to support local charities, churches, schools, and community organisations. Events such as the Christmas lights and the Midsummer Experience reflect the warmth and community spirit that continue to make the town unique. Having seen many individuals and families (including my own) affected by cancer over the years, I am very aware of the importance of continued research and support. That is why I am taking part in this years Cancer Research UK’s Shine Night 10k walk around Bristol in support of their ongoing work. Sadly, 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Every donation, however large or small, helps Cancer Research UK continue its groundbreaking work to prevent, detect, and treat cancer.
