Shine London 2019 - Half Marathon
Sat 21 Sep 2019 - Sat 21 Sep 2019
Hello As many of you know my daughters and I have taken part in the race for life for the last 10 years. But in April 2017 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. To say it was a shock is an understatement. My children had just lost their grandma in August 2016 to cancer. So this news was devastating. I can't begin to tell you the rollercoaster of emotions and fear that ran through me. Then in October 2017 my younger sister Sameera was also diagnosed with Breast cancer. After a successful surgery and Radiotherapy I am 2 years clear. My sister had a mastectomy with no other treatment and is clear. The fear stays with you and every check and appointment you hold your breath and wait for the results. I don't want this for my daughters. So this year I have decided to complete the Shine walk with my friend Harj. To raise money to find and cure and to support those still fighting this dreadful disease. Any amount however small will be gratefully appreciated, we need to find a cure!! Thank you xxxxx Love Salina xxx Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. CAUSE
Breast cancer
With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
