2020 Bath Half Marathon
Dear all, I am due to run the Bath Half Marathon next Sunday 15th March. It began as a personal challenge- I was never sure my knees would survive the training, but with the support of family and good running buddies it’s now a reality. As I started to log the miles I’ve had time to think of all the people who would love to carelessly run- and head out in the sun, wind, rain- or all combined! Having the health to try this has felt such a privilege, so I have decided to combine my running efforts with some fundraising, and to help in particular lives affected by cancer. Cancer is happening right now, and sadly everyone knows somebody very special who has been affected by the disease. I have chosen to support the charity Cancer Research UK- combining work of researchers and supporters their pledge is to beat cancer for future generations. Cancer Research receives no Government funding and relies solely on fundraising to finance research. Their efforts are focussed on helping prevent cancer, diagnosing it earlier, developing new treatments and optimising current ones. They face massive challenges but any money I/ we can raise together will really help make a difference. Thankyou so much for your support- emotional or financial it will really help motivate me on the day. Ruth. Xx
