My Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I’m doing 100 push-ups a day throughout April to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. Please show your support and help fund life-saving research by donating to my page. If you can afford anything , it WILL help. It seemed very appropriate to take up the April challenge, as this time last year our Dad was in palliative care with his skin cancer and, although always the gentleman, we could see that the pain and effects of the cancer were increasing all the time. It also seemed appropriate for me to be part of this as I too have had a tumour taken out from my arm, a `nerve-sheath` tumour, that encapsulated my radial nerve. The clever boffins at Morriston Hospital in Swansea rebuilt my radial nerve from my leg, and after a second session of surgery i`m so far so good. This was a good few years ago now, but the pain (and I mean real pain) lives on, but I`ve been able to use my hand again. I lost one of my best friends to pancreatic cancer a few years ago, have another who has been having cancer treatment for a few years, and there are a number of others I know that have their own treatments ongoing. So this challenge is in memory of Dad, and for all those I know or have known, who have family and friends of their own that are touched by the effects of cancer. I will be having to do the slightly less strenuous `knee` or `wall` push-ups to prevent the chance of permanent damage to my arm, but i`ll get there. I`ll do my best.
