My Story
Like so many people, my life has been deeply affected by cancer — and sadly, I know it will touch my life again. In 2010, I lost my wonderful dad, Stuart, to oesophageal cancer. He was only 54, and I was just 17. It breaks my heart every day that he never got to meet five of his six grandchildren, and that so much of life has gone by without him here. I miss him more than words can say. More recently, my children lost their lovely nanny to synovial sarcoma. They adored her, and her absence has left a huge hole in their lives. I could go on listing loved ones who have suffered at the hands of this disease, but the truth is we all know too many people in this situation — and we’ve all lost too many. This cruel disease has taken too much, from too many. It has to be stopped. I might not have the brains to find the cure, but I can do my bit to help raise the funds that will power the research, support those living with cancer, and care for the families affected by it. Which is why, in a moment of madness, I signed up for the London Marathon! I’m not a runner (yet!) but I’m giving it everything I’ve got. It’s going to be tough, it’s going to be emotional, and it’s definitely going to be hilarious watching me try… but I am determined to cross that finish line and raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. Please, please, PLEASE donate if you can — every penny really does make a difference. Thank you 💜 Follow my journey on Instagram: @_runhollierun
