My Story
Ruby’s Message: On October 13th, Myself and my good friend Frankie will be running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon, in memory of my father, Luke Hart. My father was my best friend of which we did everything together. He was an extremely brave, funny, kind and generous man who always supported me and guided me. In 2018, my father was diagnosed with cancer of the bile duct, a very rare cancer, he battled through it for 5 years, whilst always keeping a positive mind and within that time we as a family created some fantastic memories that I will treasure forever. Sadly, my dad passed away in January of 2023, which was an extremely tough time and I continue to miss him every single day. However, I know that he will be running with me every step of the way, chanting “Keep Going Scoobs!” and I hope to make him proud. Frankie’s Message: I first met Ruby when our schools came head to head on the 1st XI cricket square back in 2021 (incurring some awful chat), not really knowing anything about each other, aside from both loving sports and being extremely competitive. We had some mutual friends, but little did I know Ruby would then become one of my best friends at university, 3 years later. My clubbing, brunching, partying, studying, day tripping and everything in between sidekick. I couldn’t have asked for a better 1st year with Ruby by my side. Unfortunately, Ruby lost her dad Luke last year after a long battle against cancer. Despite going through such difficult times, Ruby and her family have been nothing but inspiration to me and many more people. I’ve never seen Ruby without a smile, and her energy, love and smile lights up any room she walks into. Since the day I met Ruby, I have wanted to support her and help with fundraising where and when I can, so this is such an incredible opportunity for us both. This half marathon, not only allows us to push ourselves out of our comfort zone, but it is also in aid of such an incredible man and for cancer research, so we can help to play our part in helping others.
