2019 Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon
Sun 6 Oct 2019 - Sun 6 Oct 2019
I’m raising as much as I can to beat cancer by running my first ever half marathon for my Dad and my Uncle who have been affected by Cancer and in memory of my Grandads.
In memory of
My Grandads
After having a difficult two years as a family I decided in January 2019 that I wanted to get properly fit and set myself the challenge of running what would be my first ever half marathon this autumn. My dad also decided to join me in this challenge and we also wanted to raise money for cancer research UK through this. Cancer research UK is an important charity for my Dad and his family. When I was 5 we lost my Grandad to lung cancer. In 2017 my Dad's brother was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had to have emergency surgery to remove the tumour, followed by chemotherapy. In the same year my Dad was also diagnosed with bowel cancer and had keyhole surgery to remove a tumour, which was again followed by chemotherapy. We are so thankful that currently my Dad has been a year free of Cancer. However last November we also lost my other Grandfather to cancer. Therefore me and my Dad hope to raise £300 each for cancer research before October 6th as this charity is very close to our hearts. We had a difficult start to the year so only managed to start training in June but we are determined to get through the race on the day however long it takes!
