My mission is to raise awareness for Cancer Research UK by cycling long distance and regularly over the month of July.
My Story
I'm Robin, 18, from Oxford. I’ve just finished my A levels and instead of having a sensible summer, I signed up on a whim, to cycle 300 miles in July for Cancer Research UK. The plan: lots of local rides around Oxford, and one big two-day ride along the Varsity Route from Oxford all the way to Cambridge- around 110 miles on my own. What could go wrong. I don't have a personal cancer story to tell you. I just saw the challenge, thought it looked doable, and clicked sign up. Cancer Research UK is genuinely one of the best charities in the UK — according to their website, research has helped double cancer survival rates over the past 50 years. I've definitely visited their charity shops on many occasions. If I'm going to spend July cycling anyway, I might as well make it count for something. Any amount helps. Even £5 gets me closer to the target. Thank you.
