My Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. I originally set up this page in 2021, after losing my gorgeous Dad to small cell lung cancer on 28th May. In less than 3 weeks from his diagnosis my dad succumbed to small cell lung cancer which had sadly spread quickly and aggressively to his liver. On 25th May 2023, just a few days before my Dad's memory, my beautiful little Mam was given the devastating news that she also had lung cancer. Unfortunately the day before she was supposed to start chemotherapy she was admitted to hospital with pneumonia where she sadly passed away on 19th July 2023. They should have both been celebrating 49 years of marriage together just the day after. I had set up this donation page in honour of my Dad and never dreamed I would be changing it to include honouring my beautiful Mam just 2 years later. There are around 34,800 lung cancer deaths in the UK every year, that's 95 every day! I would be grateful if you could donate even a small amount to this wonderful cause. The work they do gives hope that we can find a cure and better treatment and earlier diagnosis' for all types of cancer, so more people can be saved and go on to live the happy lives they deserve with their families. .❤️ Thank you on behalf of my Dad, Mam and others who have and are suffering with this awful disease ❤️
CAUSE
Lung cancer
Each year more than 43,500 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK. We urgently need to drive progress so that more people survive their disease. Cancer Research UK is at the forefront in lung cancer research and is funding various projects to tackle the disease head on. This includes the TRACERx study, Cancer Research UK’s largest investment into lung cancer to date. This study has already transformed our understanding of how lung cancer evolves and is continuing to shed light on how to prevent, detect and treat the disease.
