An all day 'Yogathon'

Sun 18 Jul 2021

My Story

I'm 48 years old, healthy and physically fit. I have just been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer and need a prostatectomy. My only symptom was an urgency to wee, not even a need to go more often! Getting a cancer diagnosis, particularly prostate, at my age has been a complete shock. With minor, only slightly annoying symptoms, I didn't even consider the prospect that I might have a life threatening cancer. I want to raise awareness of my experience as I am sure, like me, most people consider prostate cancer to be an old person's disease, or perhaps only an issue if you are particularly unhealthy. This is not true, it is indiscriminate and any symptoms, however minor, however embarrassing, need to be discussed with your GP. I am planning on doing an all day Yoga event in my local park. Whilst I would have hosted some classes, sadly COVID means I will now be just embarrassing myself on my own! Therefore, as well as raising awareness, I would be extremely grateful if you would donate and help me raise money for Cancer Research. Update: The wonderful NHS operated on me on 7 Oct; I’m now on the path to recovery and as soon as I’m able I’ll be in the park doing yoga! Update: The date is set for 18 Jul 21!!
